PUBLIC  PROGRAMS

Casa de María Publisher’s public programs extend our publishing mission into shared spaces of dialogue, reflection, and civic engagement. Through literary gatherings, institutional collaborations, and community-centered conversations, we position storytelling as a form of public service, cultural preservation, and social responsibility.

Women’s History Month Public Program

During Women’s History Month, Casa de María Publisher will present a public literary program hosted at Yale University’s Dwight Hall Center for Public Service and Social Justice, a historic center for civic engagement at Yale University.

For more than a century, Dwight Hall has served as a hub for public service and social justice initiatives, supporting students, scholars, and community partners committed to addressing social inequities through education, advocacy, and direct engagement. Its work emphasizes ethical responsibility, community partnership, and sustained reflection as foundations for meaningful public service.

Casa de María Publisher’s public programming aligns with this tradition by situating literature within broader conversations about social justice, youth advocacy, and survivor-centered care. Through storytelling, dialogue, and community engagement, this program reflects a shared commitment to using education and creative expression as tools for public service and collective responsibility.

This public program will feature three published authors whose work engages youth advocacy and efforts to address and prevent domestic violence. Through readings and moderated discussion, the program will explore how lived experience informs literary advocacy and how storytelling can support awareness, reflection, and community dialogue.

Student Workshops & Youth Engagement

Student workshops supporting emerging young writers are an integral part of Casa de María Publisher’s public programming. These workshops introduce students to creative writing as a tool for self-expression, reflection, and storytelling, while fostering confidence and literacy across age groups.

Casa de María Publisher conducts school-based writing workshops in Bayamón and is actively developing workshop offerings for bilingual K–8 and high school communities in Toa Alta and Dorado. These educational engagements reflect a commitment to nurturing young voices and supporting the next generation of writers within culturally responsive learning environments.

Workshop offerings may include age-appropriate writing sessions, bilingual creative exercises, and guided discussions that encourage students to see their stories as meaningful and worthy of care.

Institutional & Community Engagement

Casa de María Publisher collaborates with universities, cultural institutions, and community organizations to create public programs that honor intellectual rigor, lived experience, and ethical responsibility.

These engagements are designed to foster meaningful dialogue, support advocacy-centered storytelling, and encourage sustained public reflection.
